@Sivaguru,

Thanks for ur note
I agree with ur first point. I and a couple of my friends too had noticed this. But this was after I published the post, hence missed this point

Regarding the second point, if i can recollect, in UPO, Abdullah asks the name and Ariff doesnt answer. Ariff does act like hes hiding something. But wedneday showed it clearly whereas u cannot see the dhayathu in UPO. A very minor thing indeed!

Karthik,

I was directed to this Blog by reading your post in the UHKH Community.

I should say this is an unbiased and a sincere review of both the movies, by a passionate Kamal Fan.

I think there are 2 places where I find to defer in opinion.

1) Some on had pointed in some forum that the citing of the Best Bakery case as a reason for becoming a terrorist by one of the terrorist is logically incorrect. Since it is shown in the movie that he was arrested for involvement in the Kovai blasts which took place years before the Gujarat riots.

2) Abt ur Pt.7 in favor of Wednesday .... I remember even in UPO, Arif trying to hide his Talisman (thaayaththu) and one of the terrorist seeing that and picking on him.

I wish I had the conviction to blog, like you do :)

Thanks Dinesh for the note.
Infact, like Dinesh, a couple of my friends initially thought that I was criticising wednesday. Please read the first and last para of the blog carefully. The originial should always be credited for its daring attempt. This post is for people who say the movies are exactly similar. This is a lesson for everyone interested in remaking a movie. Remaking isnt copy and paste. U can be innovative in every frame, thats wat the makers of UPO have done!

Dear Karthik,
Nice to read your article that too with comparisons and analysis. Definitely i will try to watch both the versions if time permits. Since childhood u r an analyst, i remember when u r 5 years old we both had analysed about hinduism and christianism. It still lingers in my memory. Keep going. Really i am very proud of you. Nice work done by you. Happy to note that it is published also. If possible i will take a print out of your analysis and give it to amma.
   All the best and regards

Karthi,
I am too bold/capable to plan such a plot, i must admit.
If i was cornered into emotions like that of Naseer/Kamal, defintely the death of unknown train friend appeals to me more than that of the woman's rape. Coming to narration of the reason, naseer explains about having a mute-conversation with his friend abt his engagement. having said that, A single-handed excellent emotional narration of kamal cannot displace the nasser's reasoning.
anyhow i found the analysis too biased and unfair, thats why i commented on that. Lets not stretch this argument any further, as we dont seem to give up our stance :)

And yes Mr.Vinod,
if you noticed the dialogues in that sequence, Commissioner asks "why are you targeting only these four among other TERRORISTS?" for which the common man replies they were chosen by lottery. even if i assume that all criminals were included in the lottery, i am amazed by the coincidence of all four turning up to be terrorists.. hmmm...
i totally understand the theme. as the movie was analysed by parts, i chose to comment on a premise alone!!

Mr. Dinesh,

Kindly understand that the four criminals who are chosen are done by a draw of lots. It could be just criminals or mere terrorists or combination of both.

The idea of the story is to clean up the community of the wrong doers by a common man in a style similar to how terrorists do to commoners.
